NROC’s new professional development project, Connected PD, aims to support educators in becoming active practitioners of Connected Learning. The project is inspired by the blossoming of Next Practices in Learning and Teaching within the NROC Network, and across the wider Digital Media and Learning (DML), Open Education Resource (OER), Online Education, and Learning Design communities. Participatory media offer a powerful set of tools to enable effective, easy-to-use, customizable, actionable, and even playful approaches to ongoing professional development. By offering a dynamic Connected Learning Ecosystem of blogs, social media, practice and play spaces, NROC offers a variety of pathways, resources, scaffolding and forms of social interaction for educators to design their own interest-driven learning and collaborations and explore a wider range of roles including learner, audience, expert, maker, curator, and mentor.
